With a general election a stones throw away, the RAC chief exec has written to all the major political parties urging them to consider the needs of the country’s motorists.
They have identified 6 key issues that should be considered, and we are interested to know what your thoughts are on this?
Some are likely to be more important to you than others, depending on the type of driving you do.
1. Push ahead with the Road Investment Strategy
Essentially continue to roll out the development of smart motorways, and improve journey times
2. Improve air quality
This focuses on how vehicle pollution is taxed
3. Plan for longer term improvement of local roads
Given the quality of some of the roads around here, this one is a biggie for us here!
4. Tackle unfair parking practices
If you’ve ever felt hard done by over a petty parking infringement, this could help start to smooth things over
5. Avoid further insurance premium tax & fuel duty
We don’t think many consumers are going to complain about this one!
6. Review the discount rate for compensation on life-changing injuries
This includes cracking down on spurious whiplash claims, which apparently almost made it through parliament
