I don’t know what it is about the start of the new school year.
You have 6 weeks to prepare for it, but everything still somehow gets left to the very last minute.
I think it’s the bury-head-in-sand approach in action.
Like there are so many more interesting and important things to do over the Summer that boring things like buying uniforms and bags and shoes can wait.
Until the day of reckoning is right around the corning and you receive a note back from the uniform suppliers informing you ‘we’re experiencing a high demand at the moment and there may be a delay with your order….’
A high demand for school uniform just as thousands of kids return to school?
And nobody thought to build this into the stock system?
At least it made it feel us a bit better that we weren’t the only ones leaving it until the last minute.
Perhaps it’s human nature to leave things to the last minute.
I do have a few friends who are annoyingly organised, and never seem to get caught out by this kind of thing.
But I suspect they're the exception rather than the norm.
There’s still a lot to do in the Allen house to get ready for tomorrow.
And just like I did last year, I swear that next year we’re going to be one of those annoyingly organised people who are way ahead of the game!
