Now in its second generation the new MINI offers endless driving fun thanks to a range of practical engines and customisable looks.
So, what’s all the fuss about?
Features
MINI offer three different models in the Cooper range; a petrol referred to as the Cooper, a sports version called the Cooper S and a diesel called the Cooper D.
As standard all models have remote central locking, alloy wheels, electric windows and mirrors, along with CD player and 6 airbags. Extra features are available on the Chilli models such as Bluetooth connectivity, automatic stability and traction control, air conditioning and built in Sat Nav.
Safety
All models come with 6 airbags and ABS as well as ISOFIX child seat mounting points in the rear. The Chilli pack also has stability control and traction control to help avoid accidents in tricky driving conditions.
The MINI Cooper has been awarded a 5star EuroNCAP safety rating.
MINI is top of the class when it comes to handling with the Cooper suited to twisty roads and high speed motorways.
Engine
There are two petrol engine choices for the MINI Cooper. The standard 1.6 litre found in the Cooper, producing 120bhp, and the turbocharged 175bhp 1.6 litre used in the Cooper S.
MINI also offers a diesel version of the Cooper, which again has a 1.6 litre engine, and is more economical than the standard petrol.
Running Costs
The standard petrol offers an average 48mpg and costs around £90 a year to tax. The diesel really excels with 72mpg and 99g/km CO2 emissions making it currently road tax exempt.
