Ford Focus Car Review

Well built and good to drive. The Ford Focus offers sharp handling and excellent cornering, which makes it more fun than many of its rivals.

It’s also one of the most practical cars in its class with all the space you will need. It is great value as a used car

But, what’s it like to own?

There's plenty of room inside for four adults and the boot space is generous and well shaped with no wheel arch intrusions.

Driver seat height adjustment, plus reach and rake adjustment on the steering wheel, means all drivers should find an excellent driving position. While the dash is not visually inspiring, it is well laid out, clear and easy to use.

The whole package is well put together and with a quality to rival anything else in its class.

However as well as being a practical family vehicle, the focus is great fun to drive! Accurate and responsive steering, sharp handling and a quiet, smooth engine (even when it’s working hard) all topped off by fine refinement at motorway speeds.

Features

The Focus Zetec 1.6 comes with several different options, including Bluetooth and rear park assist on the most recent models.

Safety

The Focus hatchback has stability control, six airbags fitted as standard, and scored a five star rating in Euro NCAP crash tests.

Most models include deadlocks to deter thieves and marked mechanical parts, making it easier to trace a stolen car.

Engine

The Ford Focus range has five different petrol engines and two diesel engines; our favourite is the 1.6 16V petrol model.

Running Costs

Running costs are quite reasonable due to the relatively modest servicing and repair costs. Insurance costs are on a par with the Focus’ rivals.

We stock several 1.6 petrol engine models and you can expect to get at least 40mpg from any of these. Our favourite, the 113bhp 1.6 16V, returns 43.8 mpg on the combined cycle.
