The Vauxhall Zafira is a versatile MPV that provides great value for money.
So, what does this family MPV have to offer?
Features
The Zafira has several different trim levels.
The standard models include the Exclusiv, the Life and the Expression. All of these provide electric front windows, air conditioning, a CD player and remote central locking.
The top trim levels are the Design and the Elite. The Design provides electric rear windows, alloys and automatic wipers, while the ‘Elite’ adds climate control, automatic lights and leather upholstery.
The SRI and VXR models have upgraded suspension and sporty styling.
As an MPV the Zafira provides seating for 7 people; 2 in the front, a row of 3 in the middle then a further 2 at the rear of the car.
The 2 rear seats fold flat into the boot and the middle 3 fold and slide up against the front seats allowing for plenty of space to transport large objects.
Safety
The new Zafira has been awarded a 5 star rating in the EuroNCAP crash tests.
The whole range comes with ABS, 6 airbags, electronic stability control and ISOFIX child seat mounting points. Most models also have curtain airbags and collapsible pedals to help avoid driver leg injuries.
Engine
There are several petrol engines in the Vauxhall Zafira range. There is a 1.6 litre producing 113bhp, a 1.8 litre which produces 138bhp and a 2.2 litre, 147bhp, engine. The sportier VX model has a 2.0 turbocharged engine producing 237bhp.
The Zafira is also available with a 1.7 diesel ECOflex engine that produces 109bhp and averages 55.4mpg making it the most cost effective model to run.
For those who want a diesel with a bit more power and torque, try the 1.9 litre that produces either 119bhp or 147bhp.
Running Costs
The lowest running costs can be found in the diesel ecoFLEX models which emit 129g/km of CO2 and have an average fuel consumption of 57.6mpg.
The petrol engines also perform to a good standard. The 1.6 petrol engines emit 157g/km of CO2 and deliver 42mpg with the 1.8 not far behind with an impressive 39mpg
