Vauxhall Insignia Car Review

Vauxhall’s replacement for the Vectra is the stylish Insignia which has been designed with both the family and executive markets in mind.
With a range of engine sizes and trim options Vauxhall appears to have something for everyone. There are even variations which come with four-wheel drive and all engines have a lifetime warranty (limited to 100,000 miles)

Features

The Insignia has several different trim levels; the ES, Exclusiv and SE, plus sportier options with the SRI and VXR. All of these include air conditioning, a CD player and electric windows.
The top trim level is the ‘Elite’ which includes climate control, automatic wipers, automatic lights and heated leather seats.

All models are well built both inside and out with build quality to rival its German competition.

Safety

Every model comes with ABS, 6 airbags, electronic stability control and ISOFIX child seat mounting points. The Insignia also provides anti-whiplash headrests and an alert which tells you if anyone in the rear has undone their seatbelt.

In the EuroNCAP crash tests the Insignia scored an impressive 94 percent for adult protection and has been awarded a 5 star rating.

Engine

There are several petrol engines in the Vauxhall Insignia range. There is a 1.6 litre turbo producing 180bhp, a 140bhp 1.8 litre and a 220bhp 2.0 litre engine. The sportier VX model has a 2.8 litre engine producing 256bhp.

The Insignia is also available with a 2.0 litre diesel engine that produces either 130bhp or 160bhp. These have better fuel consumption than the petrol versions so are often favoured as company cars.

Automatic gearboxes are available for all engines.

Running Costs

We stock all models of the Insignia but our favourite is the 2.0 CDTi SRI trim. This emits 154g/km of CO2 and delivers 37mpg with group 10E insurance.

The lowest running costs can be found in the ecoFLEX models which emit 129g/km of CO2 and have an average fuel consumption of 57.6mpg.
