Vauxhall Corsa Car Review
This is the 4th generation of Corsa that Vauxhall have produced and we’ve got to admit it’s a car that just keeps getting better. The Corsa has now won the ‘What Car? Car of the year award’ and ‘Supermini of the year’ award twice!
But, what’s it like to own?
Features
The Corsa comes in several different models from the sporty ‘VXR’ to the comfortable ‘Exclusive’. Our favourite of these is the ‘Design’ which comes with MP3 compatible CD player, central locking, electric windows, heated mirrors and 16 inch alloys.
The Mk4 Corsa is bigger than the Mk3 providing you with more leg room in the back and a larger boot.
Safety
Most models come with ABS and curtain airbags, but all models have a minimum of 2 front airbags. The Corsa also has ISOFIX child seat mounting points.
Engine
The petrol engine Corsa range consists of 1.0, 1.2 & 1.4 litre engines; our favourites are the 1.2 & 1.4 as they both feel comfortable to use in towns and on the motorway. However if you drive longer distances we would recommend the 1.4 as it feels more relaxed at higher speed cruising.
There is also a 1.3 diesel which comes in 74bhp or 89bhp versions; due to their small size we would recommend the 89bhp version as the 74bhp feels underpowered.
Vauxhall offer two different sporty models, the SXI and the VRX. The VRX is the more powerful of the two delivering 189bhp from a 1.6 petrol turbo engine.
Running Costs
We mainly stock the 1.2 and 1.4 petrol versions of the Corsa. These deliver between 45-50mpg and cost £95 a year to tax which compares well with rivals the ford Fiesta or BMW mini.
